Summer means time outdoors and we couldn’t be more excited! Whether hiking or running around with your kids, your skin needs to adjust to a more active lifestyle. For the days that you’re spending your time outside, we recommend these tips to keep skin fresh and healthy:
1) Keep bugs away, safely:
When spending time outside, bugs can be the biggest pest. But before you reach for your repellent, take a look at the label. Most insect repellents are loaded with chemicals that are bad both for you and for the environment. Be sure to use safe repellents to keep your skin happy and pests away.
2) Cleanse:
A mild cleanser will go a long way for those with active lifestyles. Skin can get dirty easily when you spend more time outside, and the best way to have your skin looking it’s best is by keeping it clean. But be careful not to use too harsh of a cleanser. Look for a product you can use as often as you need to without irritating your skin.
3) Don’t dry out:
Skin can get dry and irritated very easily when faced with the sun and wind outdoors, so it may be time to revisit your moisturizing routine. To get the most mileage out of your moisturizer, find a product that has SPF and anti-aging properties. It will help fight the natural conditions of the outdoors and keep you looking your best both today and for years to come.
4) Help makeup stay in place:
Between heat, humidity and the resulting sweat, makeup has a tendency to run during the hot summer months. Beyond looking for waterproof products, how you prep your skin will make a big difference. Properly exfoliated skin holds makeup in place better than it’s alternative, and beyond that, well-exfoliated skin can require less makeup in the first place.
