Everyday Can be a Spa Day for Your Skin

Each time we get a facial, we feel one word: amazing. There’s nothing like a head, face, and hand massage to melt away stress, and all the different techniques the esthetician employs to make our skin vibrant are pure indulgence. However, many of the steps of your facials can be—and should be—incorporated into your normal routine to keep your skin as youthful and glowing as it is post-facial. Here are our recommended steps for your perfected skincare routine:

1. Cleanse

Using a gentle cleaner to remove makeup, dirt, and excess oils is an essential starting place. We recommend always cleansing before bed, especially if you wore makeup during the day. Depending on your skin type, you may want to cleanse in the morning as well.

2. Tone

Toners are your skin’s long lost best friend. Toners help rebalance your skin and restore it’s ideal pH. Not to mention is feels refreshing when lightly spritzed on your freshly cleansed skin.

3. Exfoliate and Renew

It is important to exfoliate dead and damaged skin to allow new skin to be revealed. However, sometimes we get confused as to how often we should engage. Exfoliating should be limited to a couple times a week for gentle scrubs, and once a week for chemical peels.

4. Treat

In our twenties, we may have been able to stop after the cleansing step. However, we could all use a little help with those lines and discoloration that show themselves as life goes on. Try potent antioxidant serums or masks to give your skin the pampering and revitalizing it deserves.

5. Hydrate

To maximize all of your hard work, be sure to hydrate with a clean moisturizer. Protect your skin from the environment, and allow your skin to soak up the benefits of your treatment products. A common misconception is that only dry skin needs to be moisturized—oily skin can also be dehydrated, you just need to find a moisturizer that works well with your skin type.
