Caffeine in Eye Cream?

Caffeine in Eye Cream?

One of the key components of any anti-aging skincare routine is an eye cream. But what differentiates eye creams from face serums and moisturizers, and why does caffeine play such a unique role in eye care?

The skin around the eye is much thinner than that of the rest of the face. It is more fragile. It doesn’t retain moisture as well. It shows signs of aging more quickly and severely. And it is also more sensitive to topical products. For these reasons, regular moisturizers will often irritate your eye area. Therefore, most eye creams use special formulations that are milder and typically forego strong scents – and have ingredients targeting concerns unique to the eye area.

Eye creams fight against three major cosmetic problems: (1) fine lines and wrinkles, (2) puffiness, and (3) dark circles. Ingredients like vitamin C and activated liquid silk diminish the appearance of fines lines and wrinkles. And then there is caffeine. Research suggests that caffeine increases circulation, which reduces the appearance of dark circles in the eye area. Also, it has the effect of reducing the appearance of puffiness. Cold temperatures can also reduce puffiness, which is why many people refrigerate their eye creams.

Because the skin around the eye is so sensitive and unique, special treatment is critical. Using a cream designed specifically for the eyes will help you maintain a youthful look.
